NITROUS OXIDE

Nitrous Oxide, also referred to as laughing gas, is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. This colorless, odorless gas is delivered through a small breathing mask that is placed over the child’s nose. This will allow your child to relax, without putting him/her to sleep. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recognizes this technique as a very safe and effective way to treat children with anxiety. The gas is mild, easily taken and non-addictive. While inhaling Nitrous Oxide, your child will remain fully conscious and keep all natural reflexes. Upon completion of treatment, solely Oxygen will be given to your child for approximately 5-10 minutes to reverse the effects of the Nitrous Oxide. Your child will be fully alert upon leaving the office.

 IV SEDATION

IV Sedation is used for very young children, extremely anxious children, those who require extensive dental procedures, special needs patients, and children with special health needs. It is a deep sedation much like general anesthesia, however, the patient breathes completely on their own. It allows all necessary dental treatment to be completed in one visit with little or no memory of the experience. It is performed in the office with a dental anesthesiologist.
